The King is Coming
"Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" (Matthew 21:9)
Matthew 21
Matthew 21 marks Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem as the promised King. The crowds welcomed Him with shouts of “Hosanna!” and laid palm branches before Him. Throughout the chapter, Jesus cleanses the temple, teaches powerful lessons about faith and obedience, and confronts religious leaders about their unbelief. This chapter reminds us that Jesus is both Savior and King, deserving our worship, obedience, and wholehearted devotion. It calls us to bear spiritual fruit and honor God not just with our words, but with our lives.
Reflection:
Matthew 21 begins with Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The crowds praised Him as King, waving palm branches and shouting “Hosanna!” Yet many who celebrated Him with their lips struggled to follow Him with their hearts. This chapter challenges us to examine our own faith. Do we welcome Jesus only when He meets our expectations, or do we honor Him as Lord in every area of our lives?
Jesus also cleansed the temple, reminding us that God desires purity, worship, and sincere devotion. Just as He cleansed the temple, He wants to cleanse our hearts of anything that distracts us from His presence. True faith is more than words; it is a life that produces fruit and reflects obedience to God.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I welcome You as King of my life. Cleanse my heart of anything that does not honor You. Help me to worship You not only with my words but also through my actions. May my life bear fruit that glorifies You and points others to Your love. Amen.
“Don’t just praise Him at the gate—follow Him all the way.”
Welcome the King into every area of your life.
Matthew 21
